About SafeHollyRidge.org

Sandy Pathway Beach

Our Approach

SafeHollyRidge.org is a citizen-operated public information site focused on scrutinizing major municipal decisions before they become permanent.

This site exists to organize and surface publicly available records related to annexation proposals, long-term development agreements, infrastructure capacity, and environmental due diligence—particularly where the long-term impacts may not be immediately visible to residents at the time of approval.

Our goal is to ensure that decisions affecting Holly Ridge for decades are examined carefully, transparently, and with full public awareness before commitments are locked in.

Background

Annexation and long-term development agreements can shape infrastructure planning, water sourcing, fiscal obligations, and municipal authority well beyond the tenure of current elected officials.

When agreements extend across multiple election cycles—or span several decades—clarity, disclosure, and accountability at the time of approval become critical. Once adopted, many of these commitments are difficult or costly to reverse.

This site consolidates publicly filed materials into a single, accessible place so residents can better understand what is being proposed, what questions remain unanswered, and what obligations may be passed forward.

What This Site Does

  • Collects and organizes publicly filed annexation and development materials

  • Highlights long-term structural elements such as duration, oversight mechanisms, infrastructure triggers, and fiscal allocation

  • Identifies gaps, omissions, or unresolved questions in publicly available records

  • Links directly to original municipal, county, state, and federal source documents

What This Site Is Not

  • Not affiliated with any municipal, county, or state government entity

  • Not operated by or representing any elected official.

  • Not funded by, affiliated with, or acting on behalf of any developer, landowner, utility provider, or commercial interest

  • Not sponsored by any business, political organization, or advocacy group

  • Not a campaign organization or political action committee

This site does not endorse candidates or parties. Its purpose is to promote public awareness, accountability, and informed participation by organizing and referencing publicly available records related to major municipal decisions.

Sources

All information presented on this site is drawn from publicly available records and official filings, including:

  • Town of Holly Ridge filings and agenda materials

  • Annexation applications and supporting documentation

  • Development agreements as submitted or referenced in public records

  • State, county, and municipal agency records

  • Publicly available environmental, water, and infrastructure documentation

  •

These materials are compiled to allow residents to independently review primary source records related to annexation, long-term development agreements, infrastructure capacity, and environmental considerations.

Public participation is a required component of the statutory review process. Residents are encouraged to review original source documents directly and engage through established municipal procedures before irreversible approvals are granted.

Decisions of this scale carry long-term consequences and warrant full public awareness prior to approval.
